The First Annual "Gathering Of Communities" (FREE EVENT TO ALL)

On the afternoon of Sunday, October 12, 2008, Our-Sacred-Land will host the first annual “Gathering of Communities". This will be a Mountain wide event consisting of various spiritual communities/groups and businesses interested in promoting and supporting the different paths that we all travel.

While traveling around to the various groups/communities here on the White Mountains, I noticed that a common thread existed and many of the same questions were being asked.... that being..... how can we find about all the events in other communities and what they are all about. After sitting with this for awhile, I felt the time was now right for the communities/groups here on the White Mountains to come together in spirit and share who they are, what is important to them, what events they host, all done in a peaceful and heartfelt way. Discussions with some members of the various groups inspired me to contemplate such a gathering. Comments such as... the time is right...we agree... how nice it would be to see what is being done and what type of experiences one can find right here in our back yard. Well,,,,,,, that was all I needed to suggest the Gathering of Communities. Now.... it looks like the Universe is in full support of this gathering and I just wish you could see and feel the reaction from the many individuals I have spoken with. :-)    Many are pumped from the idea.

    I will post the updates as they come together. I will also be listing the various communities/groups that will be in attendance. In addition, I will post the businesses who will assist in sponsoring this event as it will no doubt require some expenses.... first one that comes to mind is the port-a-potty...... Please check back some time this weekend for updates.

 Ø      Work days at Our Sacred Land; Some time this fall, we will be having "work day” on Our Sacred Land. Some pathways need to be established to the Guardian tree, the Medicine Wheel and to other points of interest on the land. The goal is to provide a safe path, not “free” of rocks but close to it. Some tree trimming and clean up will also take place, making it safer to walk amongst the trees and along the paths.

         Ø      Full Moon fire/drumming; I will wait for the Gathering of Communities before setting any more Full Moon fire/drummings. So many are interested in full moon events but I do not want to overlap other community activities. When we do have the fires, we always are on the lookout for those interested in tending the fire. I used to refer to this task as a "fire-keeper" but will use "tending the fire as in other communities, fire-keeping has a whole different meaning with different responsibilities. If anyone is interested, please let your desires be known. Please remember to bring your chair, a flashlight, warm clothing and a drum or rattle if you have one. We do have some extra drums and rattles just in case. This is a time to connect as a community to strengthen our bond with each other and to also enhance our personal connection to the Creator and the Fire (some will respectfully refer to the fire as Grandfather Fire) . We will do rounds of drumming till all feel it is time to share by means of the Talking Stick. Song, dance and expression is welcomed. Information will be shared on the talking stick and why we use it.

     Ø      Our Sacred Land Medicine Wheel; The Medicine Wheel has been established and continues to hold the strong energy of the group. Most of the main 36 stones were set and a few spots remain. All are welcomed to bring your personal stones to hold your energy and to join with the others in this powerful wheel. There are copies of the Medicine Wheel we set up with the stones and the meanings or properties that each position on the Medicine Wheel holds. See Steve for a copy. If you desire a trip to the Medicine Wheel, just ask someone, we will see what he can do to accommodate your needs.

Ø      The Guardian Tree. The Guardian Tree is alive and doing well. It continues to hold the energy of the group and overseeing the land. The Medicine Wheel was placed or chosen due to its close proximity to the Guardian Tree. Visits are also welcomed, see Steve for personal visits.

Update to our scheduled Group Meeting

The group meetings are temporally postponed till we work through the list of topics. Many are beginning to weigh in on topics of interest and when I feel we have a consensus or clear direction, then at that time, the group meetings will resume.

The Our Sacred Land Lending Library;

Many books have found their way to Our Sacred Land as of late. All books will be given a label with our information in it and then placed in the lending library. We will be looking for someone to gather the information and to catalog the books for posting. In addition to books, we are getting quite a collection of DVD’s and CD’s. Many topics are being covered. Some of you more “crafty” individuals will be needed to construct the shelving to hold all the items. Please inquire with your thoughts and or ideas.
